Talks, Safaris and Competitions!

Reflections, Road Trips & Racing Subjects Behind the Lens

There’s something incredibly rewarding about standing in front of a room full of people who share a curiosity for photography and storytelling. Recently, I had the pleasure of presenting a photography talk at Mosman Library, where we explored wildlife photography, travel, conservation, and the emotional connection that images can create.

One of my favourite parts of the evening was hearing everyone’s questions and experiences. From beginners learning how to move beyond auto mode, to experienced photographers wanting to refine their wildlife techniques, the conversation reminded me why I love teaching photography so much. Photography is not just about camera settings — it’s about observation, patience, emotion and learning to tell a story through a single frame.

I also shared stories from my travels across Africa — from the vast deserts of Namibia to unforgettable gorilla encounters in Uganda — and discussed the realities of photographing wildlife ethically and responsibly. Conservation remains at the heart of my work, and it’s always encouraging to meet people who care deeply about the natural world and how photography can inspire others to protect it.

A Journey To Chile via boat!

Earlier this year, I had the extraordinary opportunity to travel to Chile as part of a conservation mission with the Captain Paul Watson FoundationThe mission also focused heavily on ocean conservation and raising awareness around krill fishing, which has a significant impact on marine ecosystems and species such as penguins and whales that rely on krill as a vital food source. The journey took us across the Pacific Ocean and while it was a very rough journey for me, it certainly was a once in a lifetime opportunity.

Disembarking in Punta Arenas, Chile, I continued on my way and left the mission. I took a tour to Torres Del Paine and to Terra Del Fuego.

One of the highlights of the tour — the king penguin colony in Tierra del Fuego.

Standing in front of the majestic King Penguins was one of those rare wildlife experiences that’s difficult to put into words. Watching them interact, hearing their calls carry across the landscape and observing them in such a wild and windswept environment was something I’ll never forget.

Experiences like this reinforce why I believe photography can play such an important role in conservation — helping people emotionally connect with wildlife and understand what’s at stake.

Botswana 2027 — Join Me on Safari

Looking ahead, planning is already underway for my next hosted journey to Botswana in May 2027 — and it’s shaping up to be an unforgettable adventure.

Botswana is one of Africa’s last truly wild places. Vast open landscapes, winding waterways, incredible wildlife encounters and spectacular sunsets combine to create an experience that stays with you long after you return home. From watching elephants gather at the water’s edge to hearing lions calling through the night, every day on safari brings something unexpected.

This tour is about more than photography — it’s about experiencing Africa properly. Early morning game drives, evenings around the campfire, exploring remote wilderness areas, connecting with local guides and simply taking time to appreciate the natural world around us.

Of course, there will be plenty of opportunities to capture incredible images along the way, whether you’re using a professional camera or just your phone. I’ll happily share photography tips throughout the trip for anyone interested, but the heart of this journey is adventure, wildlife, and the shared experience of exploring one of the most extraordinary destinations on Earth.

If Botswana has always been on your bucket list, this may be the perfect opportunity to experience it with a small group of like-minded travellers who share a love for wildlife, travel and discovery. More details are available on the Tours page, and I can’t wait to return to Africa and share the experience with others.
