African Penguin - South Africa
African Penguin - South Africa
While visiting Boulders Beach in Simon’s Town, South Africa, I photographed a single African penguin standing on the sand, calmly watching the waves. It seemed completely at ease, surrounded by the soft sounds of the ocean and the chatter of the colony nearby.
African penguins are the only penguin species found on the continent, and they’re now classified as endangered due to habitat loss, declining fish stocks, and environmental pressures. Seeing one up close in its natural coastal habitat was a special experience — a quiet reminder of how important these protected areas are for their survival.
