As we were driving out of the Maasai Mara National Reserve, we spotted a male lion resting in a lone bush with his juvenile son beside him. The young lion watched us quietly, calm but clearly curious about our presence. He didn’t move much, just studied us with wide, alert eyes — a perfect moment to capture.
Lions are listed as vulnerable in the wild, with their numbers declining due to habitat loss, human–wildlife conflict, and reduced prey. Seeing this cub alongside his father was a reminder of how fragile their future can be, and how important it is to protect the wild spaces they depend on.
