We were driving out of Maasai Mara National Reserve when a lion emerged from a lone bush, his juvenile son close behind. I raised my camera just as the male stepped into the open, his powerful frame filling the viewfinder.
The black and white tones of the photograph strip away the distractions of the landscape, drawing all the focus to his intense stare and steady presence. There was something unforgettable about the quiet confidence in that moment — a father leading the way, his young cub following close.
