Vervet Monkey - South Africa
Vervet Monkey - South Africa
I spotted a vervet monkey sitting in the fork of a tree while on safari in South Africa, keeping watch over its surroundings. It was completely focused, scanning the area while the rest of the troop moved about below. From where I stood, I could see the way it paused at every sound — alert and ready.
Vervet monkeys live in social groups and rely on sentinels like this to warn the troop of any potential threats. Watching it in action offered a clear glimpse into how these intelligent primates work together to stay safe. It was a simple moment, but one that said a lot about their behaviour.
